Quick Holiday to London

During our time in Michigan, I had the opportunity to travel back to London for a few days with Tony, Virginia, and Victoria!! Tony was cycling in the PruRide London, a 100 mile cycle race from central London to Surrey and back. He wanted to take the girls but needed someone to help for the few days he had commitments to the race, so I was invited along :) It was especially nice for the girls since I know the city so well having lived there all of last year and we could just do our own thing. Also since Tony and the girls visited last year, we were able to do some different things this year, as we had done most of the real touristy highlights last year with them. It was a quick 5 days, but it was a lot of fun and actually nice to be back for a quick holiday! Strange how it felt a little like "home" especially after this crazy year of moving everywhere! We stayed at the Royal Horseguards Hotel right on the Thames across from the London Eye. We had an unbelievable view from our room, which amazed me every time I looked out our window! Tony's ride went well, even though it was cut a little short to avoid the worst hills due to the torrential rain from the remains of a hurricane! I think everyone had a great trip and got to do different things this time around and really just enjoy being in London. Thanks again Tony for taking me along!! And thanks Virginia and Victoria for the fun memories!!

So here are the highlights from our London holiday:
  • Gorgeous sunny arrival, walked along the Thames
  • Lunch at Borough Market
  • The View from the Shard
  • Seeing the impressive poppies installation at the Tower of London
  • Visit to the Twinings Tea Shop
  • Dinner at the Sherlock Holmes pub
  • Stopped by the BBC to try to see some of Tore's youtubers
  • Explored the British Museum (specifically for the Rosetta Stone for Virginia)
  • The zebra crossing at Abbey Road
  • The girls and Tony made it to the Sherlock Holmes Museum
  • A more formal Afternoon High Tea at our hotel
  • Shopping on Oxford Street
  • Shopping at Harrods
  • Korean food at LimeOrange
  • Wicked at the Apollo Theater

 My personal highlights:
  • Some beautiful, sunny morning runs along the Thames before the girls woke up
  • London at night of course! Even after a year of living there, I am still always in awe of the beauty of London at night (see this post from last year)
  • Trip to Ealing visiting with friends from our church there
  • A quiet cup of coffee in Trafalgar square before flying out

A few pictures from our holiday and lots more here :)
