September's big events

5th Anniversary
September found us back in the northeast. Owen did a pediatric rotation in the Bronx, NY while I stayed at my parents' house in Connecticut. Fortunately we were able to see each other on the weekends, which were filled with a few big events. Here's the highlights:

Sept 7 - Owen's birthday was at the beginning of the month and we celebrated with some red velvet cupcakes, birthday lunch, and of course a little shooting (new air pistol). The same day was also my triathlon, which Owen and my parents came to cheer me on. I placed 3rd in my age group (out of 27), and 84/373 (top 25%) with a time of 1:36:06... cutting 30 minutes off my previous time!!!

Sept 12 - The following weekend was our 5th anniversary! Owen came back up for the weekend and we were able to actually celebrate together. We went out for a nice dinner of Afghan food and stroll around West Hartford Center. It was also my Dad's birthday that weekend, so we all went to the Simsbury Fly in that Sunday.

Sept 20 - I went down to the Bronx for the weekend. We spontaneously got tickets to a Yankee's Game (something I've always wanted to do) and got to see Derek Jeter before he retired! (anniversary money well spent, thanks mom and dad!) We also spent a day sightseeing in Manhattan and met up with some friends for dinner.

There were also some fun fall activities during September and October, but I'll save that for another post (too many events/pictures for one post).
